In the Community. At SiloSmashers, we have a genuine commitment, not only to our clients and our employees, but also to the communities where we live and work, to have a positive impact on their lives today and in the future. This commitment, that so aptly defines Silosmashers, is described in the company’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
SiloSmashers Gives Back. SiloSmashers takes great pride in “giving back” through our corporate support and involvement in philanthropic activities in the local and extended communities.
In 2013, SiloSmashers has been actively building our team and skills in preparation for the Heart Walk. It is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers – heart disease and stroke. Learn more to join our team and help us meet our goal of $25,000.
We also have been working hard to support the National Capital Chapter of the United Way and the Do More 24 campaign to support the Women in Technology Education Foundation. SiloSmasher’s CEO, Angela Drummond, is an active contributor and board member of this area nonprofit organization.
Silosmashers is proud to have sponsored the 2012 Marine Corps Toys for Tots to benefit local children. Also, in 2011 we worked with Operation Santa Claus, collecting toys, food items, gas gift cards, and more, in support of Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. The philosophy and mission of Operation Homefront, and SiloSmashers as well, is to serve and support those who wear our country’s uniform as they serve and support our country’s freedom! We encourage everyone to donate when you can and as often as you can. Each of us can make a difference!
Here is our SiloSmashers team at the 2013 America Heart Association held their annual Heart Walk. Team SiloSmashers was there to join in the fight against cardiovascular heart disease and stroke raised $4,700, which was matched corporately for a total of $9,400.
CEO Angela Drummond is very conscientious and dedicated to being involved in a variety of charitable organizations and she is an avid volunteer, speaker, and fundraiser for a number of them. Ms. Drummond sets the standard for the SiloSmashers Team to do the same.
The company encourages employee participation in activities supporting; March of Dimes for which we have been a proud contributor/sponsor for 10 years, Race for the Cure, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Junior Achievement, Girls in Technology, the Arts Club of Washington, The Martin Luther King “Holiday of Service” and other charities and community endeavors.
In September 2011, SiloSmashers collected backpacks and other school supplies to support the families of Mosby Woods Elementary, here in our local community. As we move further into the fall, SiloSmashers participates annually in a number of other philanthropic activities including collections for local food banks, Toys for Tots, and adoption of disadvantaged youth at the holidays.
Silosmashers also maintains an ongoing, internal fundraiser, supporting organizations including the American Red Cross, Easter Seals, American Lung Association, National Kidney Foundation, Big Brothers/Big sisters of the National Capital Region, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and a local food bank, “So that Others May Eat”. Through our internal fundraiser called “Blue Jean Friday”, staff members volunteer to contribute money to charity by paying $5, which is matched by the company, for the opportunity to wear blue jeans on the first Friday of every month. We invite you to check back with us often to fine out how and where you can join the SiloSmashers team for the next community support endeavor!
