How SiloSmashers Became SiloSmashers –

and Helped Launch a Revolution

Our company was created with one purpose in mind: to take enterprises to levels of performance and achievement they never thought possible. The result is a record of sustained growth and of consistent business value delivered to the many organizations we serve.

1992

Angela Drummond founds SiloSmashers as Structured Solutions Inc., a woman-owned firm. She launches this entrepreneurial venture to fill a need in the marketplace for collaborative management consulting services.

At the time, the federal government has a number of large projects underway involving information technology, downsizing, right-sizing, restructuring and process improvement. For these projects to succeed, SiloSmashers sees the need to ensure buy-in and commitment from all levels within organizations.

The Department of Defense (DoD) Corporate Information Management Office awards SiloSmashers its first engagement: to build and run the first DoD Center for Process Improvement.

1994

While still working with the DoD, SiloSmashers branches off to support other federal clients.

SiloSmashers begins work on its methodology, originally called Rapid Action Redesign, and now updated as the Peak Performance® Index. SiloSmashers also develops an internal analysis tool called ReCap, which is used for gap analysis.

1995

SiloSmashers experiences significant growth. The company establishes an Electronic Meeting System (EMS) to meet the growing demand for online collaboration facilitation efforts.

1999

SiloSmashers embarks on a branding campaign and officially changes the firm's name to SiloSmashers. The name is selected because it simply and memorably defines what we do best and features the most important benefit we offer our clients: using innovative collaboration, management and communications to break through the organizational silos that stand in the way of achieving Peak Performance®.

2000

Charles Mudd joins SiloSmashers as Chief Operating Officer and becomes a partner in the firm one year later.

2001

SiloSmashers continues to experience rapid growth. This leads to the company being named as one of the Washington, DC metropolitan area’s fastest growing companies by trade publications and to receiving recognition from various business organizations.

SiloSmashers becomes an 8(a) firm.

2003

SiloSmashers begins ongoing relationship with the U.S. General Services Administration, serving as a key partner in support of a number of ongoing programs and initiatives.

The company begins work on U.S. Coast Guard Dining Facility Automation Management Project.

SiloSmashers appears on the Washington Technology Fast 50 and remains on the list until 2005.

2004

SiloSmashers continues to expand. The company moves to its new headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia near the Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro Station.

SiloSmashers is named a Washington Business Journal Fastest Growing Company, and again in 2005.

SiloSmashers acquired Denali Associates to expand specific competency areas. Two years later, SiloSmashers acquired the Martis Group.

2005

SiloSmashers named to the DiversityBusiness.com Top 500 Women-owned Businesses; the company is named a Top Diversity-owned and Woman-owned businesses in Virginia and the U.S. and a Top Native-American owned business in the U.S.

Angela Drummond receives the Fast Company Women Presidents’ Organization Award.

SiloSmashers ranks #266 on the Inc.500 list of the nation's top companies. The company is named as one of the Fastest Growing Technology companies in North America, earning places on both the Deloitte Technology “Fast 500” and Virginia Technology "Fast 50" for two consecutive years.

2006
